As of now, there are approximately 57 Insurance companies operating in India out of which 24 are catering to Life and rest are Non-Life. Experts suggest Insurance Industry will grow to the size of US $ 280 billion by 2020 with the increasing awareness about insurance products in India. Many Insurers and Re-insurers are establishing their offices in India, major ones being American International Group(AIG), SwissRe, Munich Re etc. This would create significant demand for qualified professionals including Undewriter, Risk Engineer or Loss prevention consultants, Actuaries, Catastrophe modelers, claims adjusters, and other supporting functions like Accounts/finance, HR, IT, admin, analytics etc.
